Choir
The St. George’s choir has one goal: to lead the congregation in prayer through the hymnography of the Orthodox Church. We focus mostly on Byzantine chant, but are always trying to increase our repertoire with new settings of beloved hymns.
Many of us converted to Orthodoxy, and so discovered the beauty of Orthodox Church music in adulthood rather than growing up with it. Some of us have been singing these hymns since the cradle. We’re all on a journey to learn more and improve our craft in order to better encourage the faithful to pray and participate in the liturgy.
If you’re interested in joining us, we have choir practice every Tuesday except the 2nd Tuesday of the month at the church. If you have any questions, feel free to email both Matt Gordon (Choir Director) at msgordon2@gmail.com and Fr. Joel at office@saintgeorgeupperdarby.com.
